The Countenance is the fourth abomination to be fought by the current generation of the Pine Guard.

Physical Appearance[]

The Countenance's body is made up of brilliant light, and is surrounded by swirling silver particle-like orbs that it can use to mimic and take the form of anything it first scans. When it is not mimicking someone, it is humanoid with 4 arms.

Powers and Abilities[]

Other than the ability to mimic things, The Countenance can also seemingly open and travel through rifts in space-time.

In the context of the finale, the Countenance seems in retrospect to be some form of experimental advanced abomination. It seemed to embody a mobile version of a Bio-Printer, being able to perform the functions of one impromptu without the need for additional machinery, creating the appearance of a "shapeshifter". It was also equipped with a mobile form of Locus Prime's wormhole technology that it could trigger on demand. This was the only time such a form of the wormhole technology was exhibited by a Four-Armed Person, though Minerva was able to create rifts in a similar manner.

Trivia[]

  • Some fans have theorized that the Countenance was not the true abomination of its cycle, but simply a servant akin to the Goat Men. None of the causes of the things Ned experienced after being teleported into the hotel were explained prior to the finale, causing some to suspect that there was a more intelligent force behind the scenes.
    • The strongest piece of evidence for this was the way Dani was remotely sent from the hotel to the gate and released from her container, despite the Countenance's death having occurred by that point.
      • This has likely been explained by the existence of the D.O.M.
    • This theory would also have explained why no new abominations came through the gate after the Countenance, as it may be possible that new abominations do not enter/are not sent in unless the previous abomination is deceased.
