The Goal of the Rite of Passage is for new students to carve their name into a tree on the outskirts of The Unknown Forest. When Argo Keene, Firbolg, and Fitzroy attempt this, Argo and Fitzroy hear a terrifying voice inside their own minds which prompts them to leave the tree and go running in the other direction. Firbolg hears it slightly differently, and communicates with it. Firbolg sees a pair of red eyes deep in the woods. The voice tells Firbolg to leave so that nobody will get hurt.
