—Gordy

Gordy, also known as The Undying Lord, is a lich from another world and the father of Rainer. He lives in The Crypt and commands a undead army, including the skeletons Tibia and Gherkin.

Physical Description[]

Normally, Gordy is a man with a shaved head, primarily dark skin, and patterns of lighter-colored skin across his face (presumably vitiligo). In his "work clothes," Gordy wears a black cloak and has a skeletal face with intricate black lines painted across it. He speaks with a much raspier voice while in this form.

History[]

Gordy has possessed necromantic powers since birth, which frightened both himself and his biological family, leading to his abandonment. His unnamed adoptive parents found him during their travels. While raising him, they shared their extensive knowledge of necromancy, teaching Gordy that power was not inherently good or bad, because any type of power—including necromancy—could be used to do good or evil.

Gordy wanted to pay that kindness forward, so he came to the world of Nua and adopted Rainer, passing on the same upbringing and teachings about necromancy and love that his parents had given him. In Nua, he found further purpose in helping the "unquiet dead" who were feared by all of Nua's residents. His "Undying Lord" alias arose as a way to make sure people left him alone.

He states that planar travel "runs in (his) family", which is likely referencing his adoptive parents, given prior statements establishing them as travelers. He can theoretically create a portal to another plane, though he needs to have access to an additional source of magic to do so.

Gordy seems to take issue with many of the social norms and structures of Nua. As an outsider, he has never participated in their hero/villain system, and considers the world's bureaucracy to be bullshit. He hates the restrictions and expectations forced on Rainer as she grows up there. He promises to help Fitzroy with no strings attached, but requests that Fitzroy treat the undead with the same kindness he would display towards a living being.

Trivia[]
